10-Minute Prayer Workout - Dedication of the Lateran Basilica

The Basilica of St. John Lateran is the oldest and highest ranking of the four major basilicas in Rome. The feast of its dedication is on Friday, and it’s a universal celebration in honor of this symbol of the living Church.

In order to honor the love and union with Christ on this feast day, we must build a strong foundation both physically and spiritually. So here’s a workout that targets the nuts-and-bolts exercises that help you develop a base of strength and conditioning.

How it works

10 Minute Lateran Basilica Workout.jpg

Open up with an Our Father and a warm-up move.

Then go through your nine moves while praying the following: For we are God’s co-workers; you are God’s field, God’s building. According to the grace of God given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building upon it. But each one must be careful how he builds upon it, for no one can lay a foundation other than the one that is there, namely, Jesus Christ. We are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Gathered in union with the whole Church, let us pray for our needs and those of all God's people.

Between each move, give yourself a rest period by praying a Hail Mary.

Finally, end with an Our Father (about 20 seconds) and the same move as the warm-up.

Go through the entire workout just once for a 10-minute sweat session, or up to 4 times for a 40-minute one!

TIPS: You can easily make a voice recording on your phone with the prayers and exercises listed! And if you aren’t sure what a certain exercise is, you can use our best friend Google.
